On March 13th, the podcast "POV Podcast," created by students from the School of Intelligent and Sustainable Management, won the First Prize in the "Face Equality Multimedia Competition" organized by the Sunshine Foundation. The team received a cash prize of NT$4,000, a certificate, and additional prizes, showcasing their outstanding creativity and social impact.
"POV Podcast" was produced by a cross-department student team from the Workplace Cross-disciplinary Learning and Application course. The team members include Lin Wan-Ru, a second-year student in the Department of Business Administration (Indonesia), Qiu Ya-Se, Fernando (both from Mozambique), and Huang Zi-Qi, a first-year student in the Department of Information Technology and Management (Vietnam). The podcast focuses on exploring the issue of face equality and was guided by Professor Lin Xin-Hong from the Department of Business Administration, who encouraged students to submit their work for the competition. The Workplace Cross-disciplinary Learning and Application course is a mandatory course in the College of Management (2 credits). After the midterm exam of the 113th academic year, students began producing their podcasts as part of the final project, with the freedom to choose their topics. During a visit to a nonprofit organization, the team was encouraged by the Sunshine Foundation to focus on face equality. Fernando, the team leader, took charge of content planning, scriptwriting, guest coordination, recording, and post-production work, fully demonstrating the sensitivity and communication skills of international students in addressing social issues. The podcast was recorded using equipment the students learned to operate during the course, and the team completed the production and editing themselves. The students shared, "At first, we felt there were many challenges, but podcast production gave us the opportunity to deeply understand the operations of nonprofit organizations in Taiwan. Through the podcast, we wanted to introduce the work of the Sunshine Foundation from our perspective. Winning the award was a huge encouragement. We hope to continue using digital platforms to promote face equality and spread more positive energy." At the award ceremony, Director Wei Chang-Bo of the Sunshine Foundation Eastern Office particularly praised the students for their dedication and effort, saying, "We are deeply touched by how this group of foreign students understands and engages with the issue of face equality. The podcast content is comprehensive and emotionally impactful, with professional and sincere recording. We hope that through this podcast, more foreigners will understand Taiwan and the significance of the Sunshine Foundation’s efforts in promoting face equality, as well as share more social stories and welfare systems from Taiwan." "POV Podcast" not only focuses on face equality but is also a podcast that delves into contemporary global development trends, including topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence on education and healthcare, ethical dilemmas, and future innovations. Through engaging conversations and expert insights, the podcast aims to inspire listeners to better understand and reflect on key social issues. Professor Lin Xin-Hong, the instructor of the Workplace Cross-disciplinary Learning and Application course, mentioned that four student teams participated in the Sunshine Foundation competition. In the end, one episode of "POV Podcast" stood out and won the award, a result that is truly inspiring. At the ceremony's conclusion, the student team and the representatives of the foundation took a group photo to commemorate the honor. The students’ work being recognized by the Sunshine Foundation not only demonstrates the success of cross-disciplinary learning at Tzu Chi University but also highlights the potential of multimedia combined with social practice.
